Ithaca College

 Danette Johnson, Professor of Communication Studies (formerly Speech Communication) was recently elected president of one of the nation's largest professional organizations in the field - - the Eastern Communication Association.  Dr. Johnson will plan the 2012 convention in Pittsburgh, PA, then  move into the presidency in April 2013. 

Dr. Johnson previously served as the ECA Executive Director and has been program planner for four interest groups: nonverbal, interpersonal, instructional, and organizational. She is the second Ithaca College faculty member to ascend to the presidency; recent retiree Dr. Sandra Herndon was the first.
