Due to the unexpected malfunction of both elevators serving the East Tower - necessitating the closure of the t c lounge for tonight - the informal evening with polar explorer Eric Larsen here at Ithaca College has regretfully been cancelled.

Please note that Eric's formal presentation at Cornell University at 5:00PM is being held as scheduled. Eric’s presentation:Into the Heart of Cold: Stories from the Front Lines of our Changing Climate”, will take place at Cornell University in the Call Auditorium in Kennedy Hall.

We sincerely regret the inconvenience.

Eric Larsen, polar explorer, dog musher, adventure racer and educator, has spent the past 12 years of his life adventuring in some of the most remote and wild places left on earth. All told, Eric has traveled enough wilderness miles to circle the globe over two times. In 2009, Eric successfully led an international team to the South Pole - covering nearly 600 miles in 41 days. Eric is now one of only a few Americans in history to have skied to both the North and South Poles.

Elected as one of Outside Magazine's Eco All Stars, Eric is currently planning and preparing for the Save the Poles expedition in which Eric and his team will travel to the North Pole, South Pole and the summit of Everest all in one year. The 'Save the Poles' expedition will journey to these last frozen places in an attempt to tell their amazing story while promoting clean energy solutions to the problem of climate change.

Eric Larsen’s appearance is co-sponsored by Cornell University’s BOLD (Business Opportunities Leadership and Diversity) program, Dyson Scholars, Atkinson Center for Sustainability, Cornell Outdoor Education, Cornell’s Ecology House, Cornell Public Service Center, and Ithaca College’s “Commit to Change” program.
