School of Music Faculty & Alumni Participate in Local Community Outreach Project - School of Rock!Contributed by Molly O'Shea Polk on 02/07/11
IC School of Music Manager of Music Recording Technical Support, Brian Dozoretz, along with several alumni, have joined the efforts of this community outreach project. Brian is teaching Electric Bass to students that have selected the instrument, and recent graduate Phil Abbott '10, is teaching strings. School of Music alumni Brian Wilson '97, Angela Comprone '98, and Matthew Saccuccimorano '89, are also volunteering. The Ithaca Journal recently attended a class to cover the program. |

Chris Bell, a first-grade teacher at Ithaca's Fall Creek Elementary School, recently started an after-school program called School of Rock! Every Tuesday afternoon from 2 to 3 p.m., students from grades pre-K through fifth grade gather in several classrooms to play music. He hopes it will spark a new passion of music for many students, or strengthen a the interest of others.
