An Invitation To Talk

Contributed by Rosalie Fitzgerald on 02/08/11

Submitted on behalf of Tanya R. Saunders, Assistant Provost

In the spirit of community and dialog, you are cordially invited to join Encounters, a discussion group on topics of interest. These topics may relate to your research, books or articles you have read, or to contemporary issues. We invite you to gather every first Friday of the month, from 4pm to 6pm, beginning on Friday, March 4th, in the Six Mile Creek Room in the Campus Center.

The first Encounters presenter will be Naeem Inayatullah (Politics) who will discuss his reading of Timothy Brennan’s book, Music and Faith.  On Friday, April 8th, Paula Ioanide (CSCRE) has agreed to talk on “Feeling ‘post-racial,’” and on May 6th, Ulises Mejias (SUNY, Oswego) will talk about “Twitter Revolutions, Monopsonies, and Network Epistemes.”

If you are interested in leading a discussion, please contact Tanya Saunders, Assistant Provost, at tsaunders@ithaca.edu with a topic and any readings you would like Encounters to consider. We hope to begin scheduling for Fall 2011 in support of this community initiative!

Thank you.
