Barney Beins wrote a chapter on historical aspects of teaching psychology with technology over the past century. The chapter is based on a keynote presentation he made at a Best Practices Conference sponsored by the Society for the Teaching of Psychology.

The chapter outlines the development of various technologies for the classroom that psychology teachers designed early in the 20th century to promote what we now call active learning and the use of distance learning starting in the 1930s with radio.

The chapter is entitled "A brief stroll down random access memory lane: Implications for teaching with technology". It appears in the book Best practices for technology-enhanced teaching and learning: Connecting to psychology and the social sciences.
