SubjectsPlus Open-Source Tool Adopted by The National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in ZimbabweContributed by Lisabeth Chabot on 03/16/11 SubjectsPlus is a free and open-source tool that allows librarians to easily create web pages that display their online resources in a customized format, including database lists and resources by subject or by course. It is administered and developed by Andrew Darby, IC Web Services Librarian. Libraries have made considerable efforts to enhance the usage of available resources and to assist users in locating the optimum resources for their needs. NUST selected SubjectPlus because its flexible structure allows librarians to continuously add new resources to online guides, thereby keeping them up-to-date for library users. Andrew Darby has agreed to be an adviser to the project at NUST. NUST is a member of EIFL (Electronic Information for Libraries), an international not-for-profit organization working to enable access to knowledge in developing and transition countries. EIFL partners with libraries and library consortia in Africa, Europe and Asia. Upon successful implementation of the project, the NUST Library plans to share its experiences and lessons learned with other EIFL institutions.
