School of Music Alum Jessica Owens is Selected as Finalist for Avon Voices CompetitionContributed by Molly O'Shea Polk on 03/16/11 Avon Voices is a global online Singing Talent Search for women and Songwriting Competition for women and men. In celebration of its 125th Anniversary, Avon has invited people everywhere to join a worldwide movement that unites and inspires through the universal language of music. Out of over 6,000 entries, 20 finalists were selected from Jessica's region (USA, Canada, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic) were chosen to move on to the next round. Only 197 were chosen worldwide. As one of the 20 finalists, Jessica will be flown (all expenses paid) to Nashville for three days of makeovers, video shoots, photo shoots, and studio recording time. New videos of those remaining contestants will be posted on www.avonvoices.com late April and the world will have a chance to vote for their favorites. 197 contestants will be cut down to 100... then to 25... then to 10. Ithaca College will be there to support Jessica every step of the way! We will post voting updates soon! |
