Carol McAmis, Professor of Voice, published in the March-April edition of VOICEPrints, the official journal of NYSTA (New York Singing Teachers' Association)Contributed by Molly O'Shea Polk on 04/05/11 In addition to publishing the NYSTA article, Professor McAmis was a presenter at the New York Regional Conference of the Feldenkrais Guild of North America, and is proud to report on the recent success of her students. The article "Sensory Learning Styles in the Voice Studio" is available in the March/April online edition of the journal. On February 12, 2011, she presented the workshop "Building an Invisible Instrument: The Feldenkrais Method® and the Voice" for the New York Regional Conference of the Feldenkrais Guild of North America. The workshop introduced Feldenkrais practitioners to the basics of voice production and simple Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® lessons that can help singers develop their vocal technique. Many Voice students are currently being hired for summer positions with young artist programs with regional companies. Brigid Kegel (vocal performance, 2011) will be a young artist with Utah Festival Opera; Steve Moore (musical theatre, 2011), will be a young artist at Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, NY; and Katie Healy, student of Brad Hougham, will also be at Glimmerglass as a young artist. Congratulations to Professor Carol McAmis and our IC Voice students!
