Carl St.Clair, Music Director of Pacific Symphony, Conducts 5 Days of Classes at Ithaca College and Cornell UniversityContributed by Molly O'Shea Polk on 04/13/11 Carl St.Clair, the well-known Music Director of Pacific Symphony, is conducting classes at both Ithaca College and Cornell University, April 12-16, 2011. The workshop will include score study sessions, conducting sessions with two pianos, conducting sessions with string quartet and piano, conducting sessions with Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra and Cornell Symphony Orchestra, and video review. From a large pool of applicants, eleven conductors from all over the world (United States, Taiwan, Holland, and Israel) were chosen to come study with Mr. St.Clair and work with the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra and Cornell Symphony Orchestra. St.Clair will also work with the Ithaca College Chamber Orchestra in rehearsal. Among these students are Jimmy Chen (IC 10') and Jesse Livingston (09'), both students of Professor Jeffery Meyer. There will be a final concert, conducted by the participating conductors on Saturday, April 16th at 3 PM in Ford Hall. Repertoire will be the Stravinsky Rite of Spring performed by the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra and Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 performed by Xak Bjerken (Cornell Faculty Member) and the Cornell Symphony Orchestra.
