The Pippi to Ripley: Heroines of Fantasy and Science Fiction" conference will be held on Saturday, April 23; admission is FREE to all members of the Ithaca community.

This one-day conference features speakers from across the country coming together to talk about images of girls and women in

  • Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature (We, Lilith's Brood, Neuromancer)
  • Films (Aliens, Kick-Ass, Coraline)
  • Television (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Dr. Who)
  • Video Games (Bioware, Samus Aran, Mass Effect)
  • Graphic Novels (Watchmen, SandmanThe Runaways
  • YA and Children's Literrature (Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games)
  • Comics (Web comics, Manga)
