The Urban Mentorship Initiative (UMI),a service-learning initiative sponsored by the department of Sociology, is looking for student mentors for its 2011/2012 year. The Urban Mentorship Initiative (UMI),a service-learning initiative between Ithaca College, and the School for the Urban Environment (UE) in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, is looking for student mentors for its 2011-2012 session. UMI focuses on the history of urban education and social justice in order to prepare you for the mentoring of middle school students at the UE in New York City via web-based dialogue and field trips. Informational sessions and conversations with this year's mentors will be held Tuesday, April 19, at the noon hour and at 7:00 pm in Friends 304.
