Then Service Learning in Native America ANTH 14500 is for you! Taught during the summer session from May 16-27th during the afternoons.

This course is both an introduction to Native American cultures in our area and also an enhancement of foundations students already have. Every afternoon we travel to the Onondaga and Cayuga Nations to help out with gardening and other projects, with a special focus on helping the Cayugas get the Cayuga SHARE Farm ready for the annual picnic in June where all are invited to attend. We also work at the collaborative Onondaga Nation-NOON garden, help elders get their gardens planted, tour the Onondaga Nation School on the territory, visit with Alf Jacques (traditional lacrosse stick maker), and learn about the buffalo herd at Onondaga. For more information about the course, the Native American Studies Minor, and pictures from past courses go to https://www.ithaca.edu/hs/minors/native_american/ or contact Brooke Hansen at kbhansen@ithaca.edu or 274-1735.
