Screening of College Television Award-Winning Documentary, April 20Contributed by Melissa Gattine on 04/18/11
The film was originally created as part of their video workshop class and focuses on a four-year-old named Josh Scoble. Josh was diagnosed with a rare disease called Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) when he was only three months old. FOP causes Josh's muscles, tendons and ligaments to progressively turn into bone. Josh's family tries to give him a normal life, never forgetting the delicate situation they are faced with. Although Josh faces challenges every day of his life, he remains an extremely happy child. "Bound By Hope: One Family's Story" shows the power of perseverance, the love of a family and the strength of the human spirit. The College Television Awards is a 32-year-old national competition that judges entries from more than 200 colleges, with entries for this year’s competition totaling more than 500. The students placed third in the documentary category and accepted their award at a gala event in Hollywood on April 9. For those attending the screening, there is a suggested donation of $2 to benefit the International Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva Association. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact The Dean's Office at the Roy H. Park School of Communications (274-1021). We ask that request be made as soon as possible.
