Are you interested in interacting with first year students outside of the classroom?  Please consider serving as a Faculty Associate for the First-Year Residential Experience (FYRE)!

The First-Year Residential Experience currently houses 300 first-year students in Boothroyd, Rowland, and Tallcott Halls in the upper Quads, and will grow to 600 students with the addition of the East Tower in fall 2011.  The program is designed to provide first-year students with a strong residential experience that fosters community, promotes interactions with faculty and staff, and provides engaging activities and programs that assist students in their transition to college.  The Faculty Associate is an opportunity to interact with students in their living environment and to promote learning and academic success.

The responsibilities of a Faculty Associate include:

• Participate in an August orientation meeting with FYRE staff.
• Participate in the Move-In Crew during Residence Hall opening on Sunday, August 28, 2011 to meet new students and parents.
• Facilitate a group discussion about the First Year Reading Initiative book on August 29 or 30, following the FYRI kickoff event. 
• Participate in four additional points of contact with students, including but not limited to FYRI discussions, presenting a program in the residence halls, attending dinners or a social programs with students.
• Participate in one early fall and one early spring FYRE faculty and staff meeting.
