Mara Alper was an invited faculty member and panelist at the Global Social Action Film Festival and Institute in Bali, April 12 - 17. Her workshop on “Approaches to Environmental Media Making” focused on water issues and was attended by Institute Fellows from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, as well as US filmmakers. She was also a panelist on “Environmental Films and Social Activism.”

The mission of the Global Social Change Film Festival and Institute is to support filmmakers to be effective social activists and support social activists to be engaging storytellers.

While in Bali, Mara will gather video on the intricate traditional water rituals and irrigation systems in Bali for teaching her Water=Life summer online course and wider venues related to water issues.
