The chapters will appear in Early Foragers and Food Producers in the Andes: New Perspectives on Food Production and Social Organization, edited by Tom D. Dillehay, Cambridge University Press (2011).

This volume is the final product of over 30 years of archaeological research in the Zaña and Nanchoc Valleys of northern Peru. It publishes the most detailed evidence yet of some of the earliest plant cultivating and farming societies in the New World. Dr. Rossen worked in the valleys from 1984-1997. The authored and co-authored chapters are:

Chapter 2: Research History, Methods, and Site Types (with four others).

Chapter 5: Las Pircas Phase (9,000-7,000 B.C.)

Chapter 7: Preceramic Mounds and Hillside Villages (with Tom Dillehay).

Chapter 8: Human Remains (with John Verano).

Chapter 9: Preceramic Plant Gathering, Gardening, and Farming.

Chapter 11: Technologies and Material Culture (with T. Dillehay, G. Maggard and K. Stackelbeck).

Chapter 13: Foraging to Farming and Community Development (with T. Dillehay and K. Stackelbeck).
