Calling all men of Ithaca College: On Saturday, May 7th at noon, come help in the creation of Ithaca College’s first Barbershop Chorus.

Don’t know what Barbershop is? Come and find out!  If you love singing and acting, or just plain having fun and sharing in song, then this is the group for you. Barbershop has a longstanding history in American culture, but frankly, the scene around Ithaca isn’t so vibrant. Let’s change that and make Ithaca sing and ring chords!

Through Barbershop you can travel around the country, make new friends, network on a global scale, and join in lifelong brotherhood and harmony.

Here is an excerpt from the official Barbershop website, barbershop.org:

“The Barbershop Harmony Society, legally and historically named the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. (SPEBSQSA), is the first of several organizations to promote and preserve barbershop music as an art form. Founded by Owen C. Cash in 1938, the organization quickly grew, promoting barbershop harmony among men of all ages. As of 2007, just under 30,000 men in the United States and Canada are members of this organization whose focus is on a cappella music.”

The following is an example of what a Barbershop chorus is capable of:
