I am writing in follow-up to the announcement about Dr. David Newman’s retirement from the position of Director of Health Services. 

A transition plan has now been established, and I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Erin Hall-Rhoades has been appointed as the Acting Director of Health Services for the 2011-2012 academic year. Dr. Hall-Rhoades has been a practicing physician since 1996 and has worked as the Assistant Director of Health Services at Ithaca College since 2007. In addition, Dr. Vivian Lorenzo has been appointed as the Acting Assistant Director of Health Services for the 2011-2012 academic year. Dr. Lorenzo has been a practicing physician since 1992 and has worked at the IC Health Center since 1998. Both of the appointments will begin on June 18, 2011 and run through May 31, 2012. Dr. Newman will continue to care for patients and assist with the transition process through the end of August.   We are also in the process of conducting outreach within the community to identify one or more physicians to provide the needed MD patient care hours for the 2011-2012 academic year, to replace the hours lost by Dr. Newman’s departure. I am extremely confident that Dr. Hall-Rhoades and Dr. Lorenzo will provide excellent leadership for the Health Center in the year ahead and that the Health Services program at IC has a bright and productive future. Please feel free to congratulate Dr. Hall-Rhoades and Dr. Lorenzo on their acting appointments.
