Athletic Training Class of 2011 Sets National Exam MarkContributed by Paul Geisler on 05/05/11 Athletic Training Class of 2011 sets 100% first time, pass rate on national Board of Certification Examination, shattering the national average by more than 2:1 margin. Seventeen Athletic Training majors from the class of 2011 recently took the national Board of Certification examination to become a certified athletic trainer, and all 17 PASSED for a momentous, first time pass rate of 100%! The Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC) was incorporated in 1989 to provide a certification program for entry-level Athletic Trainers (ATs). The BOC establishes and regularly reviews both the standards for the practice of athletic training and the continuing education requirements for BOC Certified ATs. The BOC has the only accredited certification program for athletic trainers in the US. Passing the BOC examination is the first step towards attaining a professional license to practice athletic training in 47 out of 50 states, and the national, first time pass rate averages 46%! Although there are no official and available records for comparison, its fair to say this performance is certainly noteworthy on a national scale! Congratulations to all 17 students--you have certainly raised the bar and have much to be proud of! |
