Eight students and two faculty were elected to the Sigma Xi research honor society for 2011. Founded in 1886, Sigma Xi is the international honor society of research scientists and engineers, who were elected to membership because of their research achievements or potential. The Paulen A Smith Chapter at Ithaca College was founded in 1966.

Congratulations to students Kaylee Undercoffler, Kelley Harper, Clare Lyons, Judith Olson, Sara Muni, Chris Palmer, Abigaili Dubovi, Ellen O'Malley, Juan Duchimaza, Jade Pratt, Jeffrey Hatzel, Kavin Hurley, Amanda Mayer, Patrick McConnell and faculty Marina Caillaud and Michael Haaf.
