IC Toastmaster members continue to be very involved by attending conferences, training workshops, and contests as well as completing individual communication and leadership goals. We congratulate several members who have recently received significant recognition or completed a goal. Ardie Bennet was recently named the Senior Citizen of the Year by the Tompkins County Office of the Aging. She is one of our long-standing members from Longview and has been a member of IC Toastmasters since the club was chartered in 2001. Doreen Hettich-Atkins has been elected to the position of Southern Division Governor for the 2011-2012 year. This role involves overseeing 22 Toastmaster clubs in the southern region of New York State. Doreen has been a very active member of IC Toastmasters and has recently completed the Silver Award in the Advanced Communicator Series. Marie Abb is currently our club president. She has just completed a series of 10 speeches for her Competent Communicator award. This is not an easy task especially while serving as an officer in the club. If you are interested in learning more about Toastmasters and how to become an effective communicator and leader, visit one of our meetings.
