I recently heard the following at a Diversity Awareness Committee meeting:
"Racism does and does not exist on campus. Both views are present."
"The conversation is not happening. Marginalization is happening."
"We need volunteers to help recognize Disability Awareness Month."

I'm writing with a few quick updates about DAC work in progress.
--The DAC leadership is planning a talking circles event covering various diversity topics for 2012. Our hope is to meet over the summer to plan. If you are interested in attending meetings over the summer, please let us know by responding to cgonzales@ithaca.edu.
--Disability Awareness Month is in October. We are in need of volunteers to meet during the summer to begin planning campus events/programming for the month of October.
If you are interested in helping with either talking circles or Disability Awareness Month, please contact me. Also, if you know of other campus units working on related planning, please let us know.
