Andrew Dobos, Sophomore in the School of Music, accepts prestigious internship with Pearl Drum Corporation in Nashville, TNContributed by Molly O'Shea Polk on 05/19/11 Andrew has been playing percussion since he was in the 4th grade, and he has performed in many different types of ensembles, including: Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra for 5yrs (principal percussion for 3), high school Jazz Ensembles, high school and IC Wind Ensemble, IC Percussion Ensembles, IC Steel bands, IC Marimba Band, and a jam band. He hopes the internship with Pearl Drum Corporation will help him realize his goal of making a career as a professional musician. Andrew's other professional positions include a summer job at home with Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center in Wheaton, MD where he works in the percussion stock room. The Pearl Drum Corporation in Nashville, TN typically takes 2 interns per year, but with additional talent, accepted 4 this year. The 8-week position will entail work in marketing and sales, and include a behind-the-scenes look at how the DCI Championships are put together and managed. Congratulations Andrew! |
