Ithaca College

Two new members were elected to three-year terms on the Ithaca College Board of Trustees at the board’s May meeting. Michael Kaplan ’85 has joined the board as alumni trustee and Doreen Hettich-Atkins as staff trustee.

Hettich-Atkins has served since 2004 as coordinator of special services and programs in the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Life. She previously held positions as director of student life at Penn State Delaware County and as associate dean for student development at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. She has served on a number of Ithaca College committees and task forces, including those dealing with the first-year experience, IC20/20 initiative, MLK Day planning and student retention. She has been active with the American College Personnel Association, College Student Personnel Association of New York State and Toastmasters International, among other professional organizations. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in education from Temple University.

Kaplan has been an active and committed alumnus since graduating with a degree in communications management in 1985. A longtime member of the Ithaca College Alumni Association Board of Directors — including six years as president — he previously served on the board of trustees from 2001 to 2004. He has also been a member of the Roy H. Park School of Communications Advisory Board, an alumni admissions representative and an alumni career advisor for the Office of Career Services. He has had a lengthy career in marketing, with stints at Bozell Worldwide, Wunderman Worldwide, Weight Watchers International and Lawrence Butner Advertising. Since 1999 he has been a vice president and group account director at G2 USA. He holds a master’s degree in integrated marketing from New York University.

Also at the meeting, the following trustees were re-elected to three-year terms on the board: Lawrence M. Alleva, David Fleisher II, Caroleen Feeney, John E. Gallagher, Adelaide Gomer, Stephen C. McCluski and Kurt J. Wolfgruber.

Additionally, Lisa Puntillo attended her first meeting since being elected to a three-year board term in February. Currently a senior vice president for investments at UBS Financial Services, she has had a lengthy career in investment management, real estate development, finance and construction. From 2007 through 2010, she was recognized by “Barron’s” as one of the top 500 female brokers in the United States. She serves on the advisory board of the Internet technology and social media company Karma411 and has been a member of the boards of the Association for a Better Long Island and Grenville Baker Boys and Girls Club. She holds a BFA from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MBA in finance from New York University.
