Ray Boone, retired faculty member from the department of Physical Therapy passed away recently. Ray worked at Ithaca College for 32 years (retiring in 2007) starting in 1975 at the Ithaca College Bronx campus. In 1990, Ray was pivotal in organizing the move from the Bronx to the Rochester River Road campus. While in Rochester Ray served as the first Planning Unit Director, hired our initial faculty and staff, and implemented, first the MSPT curriculum and then served as Curriculum Coordinator during the implementation of the DPT. He also oversaw major facility improvements of the River Road campus.

During his tenure at Ithaca College Ray taught in excess of 2000 students. Amongst other course responsibilities, Ray was the program’s primary Anatomy instructor. A 1981 graduate wrote of Ray at the time of his retirement, “I always remember your encouragement, easy smile, and more often than not, much needed assistance. Thank you for your guidance and good humor, for placing me on my career path with knowledge and confidence and for the memory of good times through all that intense studying.”

Ray’s family has asked that any donations be made to the Ray Boone Scholarship for Physical Therapy students at Ithaca College.
