Professors Amy Frith, Mike Buck, and James Pfrehm gave a presentation on Monday, August 15th entitled "The Technology that Unites Us: Using Web 2.0 for teaching in the Humanities, Sciences, and Professional Domains."

Their presentation included examples of how wiki’s, blogs and podcasts are being used to support collaborative learning in the humanities, natural sciences and clinical sciences. In the presenters’ courses, students worked collaboratively to produce podcasts for health education, a course blogs for sharing personal reflections on out-of-class assignments, or a wiki that permitted students to collaboratively create a course study guide/reference manual.

The focus of the presentation was on exploring the advantages, challenges, changes, and future considerations of utilizing these technologies for student collaboration.  Additionally, students’ perceptions of their learning experience using these technologies and how their feedback can be utilized for enhancing future applications was discussed.
