Promoting Student Mental Health with Reaction PapersContributed by LeBron Rankins on 08/15/11
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) makes cost-free, confidential, and anonymous online mental health screening available to the campus community on its website. Getting feedback from one, or all, of the various screenings made available (depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, alcohol abuse, anxiety disorders) is one step in the process of getting help for oneself - if needed. Last year, 851 mental health screenings were completed through CAPS’ website. Some of the students that completed screenings followed up with recommendations to speak with a mental health professional. This year, we hope more students will take advantage of online screenings and get help for themselves, if needed, sooner rather than later.
