Shaianne Osterreich (Economics) presented a paper at the 20th Annual Conference of the International Association for Feminist Economics.

The conference was held in Hangzhou, China in July 2011.   The title of the presentation was "Indonesian Exports and Gender:  Where is the path to Decent Work?"   Decent Work is a rubric developed by the UN's International Labour Organization and is used to measure the quality of employment outcomes such as livable wages, dignified labor relations, and social provisioning. The paper used this framework to evaluate female Indonesian paid employment in industrial exports.

The research is part of a larger project and was funded by a Sumitri Fellowship from US-INDO and a Summer Grant for Faculty Research from the IC Provost's Office.
