With the college's new brand identity and redesigned Ithaca College website, Windows XP users may want to make a simple settings change that will enhance the text appearance of the new website, as well as other text that is displayed on the screen. To make the change:

• Right-click on the Desktop and choose Properties
• Click the Appearance tab
• Click the Effects button
• Make sure that "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" is checked
• Select "ClearType" from the pull-down menu
• Click OK
• Click Apply
• Click OK

Now, as you view text on your screen through various applications and Web pages, you should notice subtle to fairly dramatic clarity changes in the way text appears on the screen. Most users should find the change appealing, but if you don't, just follow the steps above to change from "ClearType" back to "Standard".
