Golden-winged Warblers have declined exponentially at almost 3%/yr for the last 50 years due to hybridization and competition with an expanding congener, regional trends in land use, and nest parasitism by Brown-headed Cowbird. Management proposals produce conflict between maintaining forests vs. early succession habitat. This seminar provides a historical perspective on the research that has revealed these ecological interactions. |
