This convocation will feature both Dr. Clifford Madsen, who will be delivering his address to the school via its new internet-based technology, and performances by two new performance faculty members, Aaron Tindall and Ivy Walz. Dean Woodward will welcome students back to the School of Music and share plans for the academic year. About Dr. Clifford Madsen In addition, he has authored and co-authored many books and is perhaps best known for Teaching/Discipline: A Positive Approach for Educational Development, Experimental Research in Music, Competency Based Music Education, and Applications of Research in Music Behavior. Dr. Madsen received the bachelor's and master's degrees from Brigham Young University and the Ph.D. from The Florida State University. He was appointed to the FSU faculty in 1961. Most notably for School of Music students, Dr. Madsen was the editor for Vision 2020 -- the Future of Music Education. He is a leader in the profession who shares the values of the Ithaca College School of Music. Students will leave this short time spent with him inspired about music as an art form, music as a profession, and the power each of those brings together to elevate the human condition. |
