Randy Olson was a first-year professor of marine biology at the University of New Hampshire when he suddenly realized that after fifteen years of telling stories OF science he had grown more interested in telling stories ABOUT science. Today he is an independent filmmaker fluent in the languages of both science and cinema. Through his writings he has both related his journey, and continues his exploration into the role of storytelling in the mass communication of science. Randy Olson's work is cross-cutting - his film titles include "Flock of Dodos: The Evolution of the Intelligent Design Circus", "Sizzle: A Global Warming Comedy", and "Salt of the Earth: A Journey to the heart of a Maine Lobster fisherman", as well as number of short films.
