Article submitted on behalf of Provost Marisa Kelly. In order to ensure ongoing excellence in graduate education at IC, I have asked Rob Gearhart, Associate Dean of GPS to chair an ad hoc committee that will make recommendations regarding the decentralization of graduate program administration. Such decentralization will give more authority and responsibility to individual program directors and their respective school deans while simultaneously allowing us to refocus the mission of GPS in support of innovative programs, alternative delivery methods, certificates, and other similar initiatives. The committee will work this fall to develop a set of recommendations to be submitted to me in January. However, there will be no significant structural changes made until after the conclusion of the academic year.
