The Eddie Kramer Educational Experience will take place during Homecoming Weekend at Cornell, Saturday 9/17 and Sunday 9/18. The purpose is to create a high level educational and cultural program for the Cornell and Ithaca College communities featuring a true master of sound engineering. Over the course of two days, the program will focus on the history of mainstream Rock music and technical aspects of record production.
Mr. Kramer worked on virtually the entire Jimi Hendrix catalog, in addition to seminal works by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Traffic, Santana, Peter Frampton, Carly Simon, and Kiss.
Saturday 9/17 - Rehearsal and Lecture
The seminar begins with Eddie Kramer working with the band at Pyramid Sound beginning at Noon. The band will be Mike Brindisi and the New York Rock. For about 3 hours, they will rehearse and work on their material with Mr. Kramer. This is open to students only, with valid student ID.
At 3pm, things move to Thumpty. There will be a reception with food and beverage; alcohol will be strictly prohibited. At 4pm, Mr. Kramer will give a multimedia presentation with sound, video, and photographs. After the presentation, there will be a Q&A with the audience.
Sunday, 9/18 - Recording Session
Live Video Webcast at Cornell and Ithaca College Available!
The following day, Sunday 9/18, will feature a Studio Recording and Mixing Session at Pyramid Sound, owned by the School of Music's Alex Perialas, from 10 AM to 10 PM. This is an extraordinary opportunity to learn the tips and secrets of recording and mixing music from one of the greatest of all time. Because Pyramid Sound has limited space, only 10 people will be able to participate in the session, plus a rock group to serve as recording artists and help demonstrate studio concepts. The participants in this seminar will be selected by a simple application process.
For those who are unable to be at the recording session, there will be a live video simulcast to Cornell and Ithaca College. For more information on the video simulcast, email KramerSession@gmail.com
