TUESDAY, September 20th from 4-7pm on the Fitness Center Quad. RAIN Location IC Square. PLEDGE TO STOP USING THE R-WORD!! Come eat some great food, hear inspirational speakers, listen to John Simon, Ithacappella and Voicestream perform, play games and get great information on the Special Olympics, Active Minds, Down Syndrome Support and Recreation and Leisure Studies. Spread the Word to End the Word is an effort put on by the Special Olympics and others to raise consciousness to the dehumanizing and hurtful effects the word “retard(ed)” or the R-word has on society. This event is put on to encourage people to pledge their support to stop using the R-word in their everyday speech. Not only does this word have hurtful consequences to people with disabilities but their... families, friends, and everyone around them.
