The Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival invites faculty interested in the Festival to teach a 1 credit hour block II mini course.  This year the Festival’s programming stream will be based on the concept of ‘microtopias.’ Faculty teaching mini courses as an overload will receive a $1300  stipend.

Faculty from all departments are encouraged to apply. Funds are available for 5 mini courses, one from each school. Faculty who can teach FLEFF mini courses in load are also encouraged to make proposals. Mini courses are designed to take advantage of FLEFF films and events and will engage students in sustainability topics broadly defined. FLEFF will run from March 26-April 1, 2012.

Titles of mini courses in previous years include: Environmental Issues in Film, Garbage, Oil, & Other Dirty Stuff: Environment, Commodities, & Film in the Americas , Understanding Documentaries: A Survey of FLEFF Films, Public Health, Media, & Lifestyle, Tying Story to Environment: the Checkpoint as Drama, Sustainable Development, Poverty, and Health, etc. Students in FLEFF mini courses are required to buy Festival Passes offered at a discounted price (50%) and to attend events both on campus and downtown. Faculty receive free passes and are invited to FLEFF receptions and post screening parties. FLEFF mini courses start after spring break.

While the schedule of films will not be known until late February, courses with broad themes or topics should have no difficulty finding interesting films for students to view.
