Interested in making a difference? Apply for Alternative Spring Break! Applications are available on the OSEMA website beginning October 3rd at 9 a.m.

Alternative Spring Break is a program sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs that provides students service opportunities at a variety of sites across the United States.

This year, students will be able to volunteer in a variety of locations from March 10-March 18, 2011. The locations offered this year include:

  • Pensacola, FL- projects involving environmental conservation
  • Washington, DC- projects involving food security in the inner city, educational tours, and alumni networking
  • Beckly, WVExamining the effects of mountaintop coal mining in Appalachia
  • Salamanca, NY - Working with youth at the City of Salamanca Youth Center, and examining the effects of the designated native peoples' lands and casino in New York State.
  • Joplin, MO - Rebuilding Joplin from the May 2011 tornado
     

Students who are certified to drive college vehicles are encouraged to apply.
