(Submitted on behalf of Provost Marisa Kelly)

There are several vacant positions within the Provost’s Office reporting structure.  This has led to a redistribution of various responsibilities and to a search for a new Assistant Provost for Research and Graduate Studies.

Dr. Carol Henderson is now Associate Provost for Accreditation, Assessment, and Curriculum. She leads our institutional accreditation efforts, oversees learning assessment and program review, and handles student appeals, among other things. The Library, the Registrar’s Office, Institutional Research, Academic Enrichment Services, and the Office of Student Disability Services all report to Associate Provost Henderson.  There may be additional organizational changes made later this year.

The Assistant Provost for Research and Graduate Studies represents a reconfiguration of the position once held by Bashar Hanna who left in early July to become Vice President for Academic Affairs at Delaware Valley College.

The new Assistant Provost for Research and Graduate Studies will oversee all aspects of external grants administration and will provide strategic leadership especially in support of undergraduate research.  Among other things, this position also will have responsibility for graduate program functions that require the direct involvement of a member of the Provost’s Office team.

The search committee is being chaired by Lis Chabot, Director of the Library. The other members of the search committee are:

Danette Johnson, Department of Communication Studies

Andrew Smith, Department of Biology

Helene Larin, Depart of Physical Therapy

Carol Henderson, Provost’s Office

Anthony Hopson, President’s Office

I want to take this opportunity to thank the members of this committee for working to ensure the success of this search.  Look for updates on the search in future Intercom postings.
