Veterans Day Celebration

Contributed by Jane Ray on 11/09/11

The ninth annual Veterans Day Celebration will be held at noon on Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Ford Auditorium in the Whalen Center for Music. Members of the Ithaca College community are encouraged to join in the college salute to those who serve.

Carl Sgrecci, Vice President, Finance and Administration will provide a welcome for the ceremony. The IC Brass Choir, conducted by Beth Peterson and IC voICes, conducted by Susan Avery, will perform. The keynote speaker will be LeBron Rankins, Staff Psychologist, Ithaca College. To view LeBron Rankins biography, please click on the following link: https://www.ithaca.edu/veterans/keynote/

The event is free and open to members of the campus community and the greater Ithaca area. The celebration will conclude by 1:00 p.m.

In the spirit of giving, a group of faculty, staff, students, and Longview residents gathered to make red, white, and blue pillowcases. The pillowcases will be on display for the Veterans Day Celebration. The pillowcases will then be shipped to soldiers overseas. IC Quilters hope that this small act of kindness will encourage a soldier who is serving their country far from home. Veterans make up a valued part of Ithaca College and Longview. Veterans who are members of these communities are recognized at https://www.ithaca.edu/veterans/employees/ . If you are an Ithaca College alumnus and veteran or a Longview resident and veteran and wish to be listed, please send an email to veteranscommittee@ithaca.edu.   Provide your name, your affiliation with the college or to Longview, graduation year if applicable, date of service entry and branch of service.

We look forward to your participation as we honor our Veterans on Thursday, November 10.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Jane Ray, Office of Human Resources at jray@ithaca.edu.  We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
