Annual Holocaust Lecture on the Warsaw Ghetto, October 24 at 7:30 p.m.Contributed by Rebecca Lesses on 10/14/11 On Monday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall, Dr. Samuel Kassow will deliver the annual Holocaust Lecture at Ithaca College, “History and Catastrophe: Emanuel Ringelblum in the Warsaw Ghetto." His talk is free and open to the public. Kassow is the author of “Who Will Write Our History?” which tells the gripping story of Emanuel Ringelblum, a historian who established a clandestine organization in Nazi-occupied Warsaw to document and preserve the history of Jewish life in wartime Poland. As the Final Solution unfolded, Ringelblum and most of the group perished, but not before he had managed to hide thousands of documents in milk cans and tin boxes. Searchers found two of these buried caches in 1946 and 1950. |
