Are you committed to combating social, economic, and environmental injustices?
Do you want to make a difference this Spring Break?

Then you are invited to apply for Alternative Spring Break, a week-long program sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs. The program will encompass civic engagement and foster place-based learning.

Alternative Spring Break will take place from March 10, 2012 through March 18, 2012. Students will have the opportunity to volunteer in one of these five destinations:

  • Pensacola, FL
  • Joplin, MO
  • Beckley, WV
  • Washington D.C.
  • Salamanca, NY

Descriptions and costs for each trip are included in the "Program Descriptions" document on the OSEMA website. In addition, students are encouraged to read the "ASB FAQ" document to learn additional details about the program.

Program applications are currently available on the OSEMA webpage. Interested students are encouraged to read about the programs available, determine which trips they are interested in, and complete the application based on their interests before the deadline on Monday, October 31, at 5:00pm.

Accepted applicants will be informed of their acceptance on Wednesday, November 9, 2011.

With the deadline only a week away, please do not hesitate to take advantage of this opportunity by applying now. You have the power and the ability to be the change! ASB is a great way to start.
