During fall 2011, the School of Humanities and Sciences funded 20 academic projects with awards totaling nearly $14,000 as part of the Educational Grant Initiative (EGI).

In addition, during the fall 2011 semester, the EGI “Easy Access Funds” for student conference attendance awarded nearly $10,000 in grant support for more than 45 students to present original research or creative work at conferences during the fall and spring semesters.

The Educational Grant Initiative promotes student learning and achievement by providing financial support for specific projects. Individual students and faculty within H&S are eligible to apply for this funding to support travel, research funds, or other independent projects.

The Educational Grant Initiative is made possible by generous donations to the Ithaca Fund from alumni, parents, members of the campus community, and friends of the College.

To learn more about EGI, including summaries of current projects (which range from a visiting quartet of master throat singers from Tuva to research on plant diversity and soil pH as factors impacting soil microbial diversity in the alternative landscape plot north of CNS and the surrounding lawn), please visit the EGI site.
