Family Weekend 2011

The 2011 Family Weekend will be held November 4-6. A full listing of events for the weekend is available online: www.ithaca.edu/familyweekend.

Students whose parents are attending can pick up their registration materials in the north foyer of Phillips Hall beginning at 11:00 on Friday.  Please bring your ID.

Students whose parents are unable to attend are welcome to attend any non-ticketed events. Students who would like to attend ticketed events can stop by the registration area in the north foyer of Phillips Hall beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday to check on ticket availability.   

Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend the non-ticketed events. Bring your family as well. (Ticketed events have limited seating reserved for students' families although seats may be available at show time.)

Friday evening, family members can choose from 3 exciting events: The One World Concert which features the Ithaca College International Club’s celebration of diversity throughout the world, the Ithaca College Theatre production of The Light in the Piazza, or the School of Music concert which will feature the Concert Band and Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

 

President Rochon will open Saturday morning with his addressed entitled “Things You Need to Know About Ithaca College (That Your Children Might Not Mention!) from 9-10am in the Park School of Communications Auditorium.

The Family Weekend luncheon will be on Saturday, November 5 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Terrace Dining Hall. We welcome and strongly encourage faculty and staff to attend this luncheon.  There is no cost to IC faculty and staff who wish to attend, just show up and we’ll provide you with a ticket.  You will be treated to music provided by a student jazz quartet.

 

Additional events on Saturday include:.

  • Academic displays and open houses by the academic schools,
  • Presentations on topics such as study abroad opportunities and the 21st Century library,
  • The Ithaca vs. Alfred football game, 
  • Men’s and women’s swimming and diving vs. Cortland,
  • A matinee performance of The Light in the Piazza,
  • The Student Performance Showcase, which highlights our talented student performing organizations.
  • The School of Music Concert featuring the Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble.

Family Weekend programming continues on Sunday with Catholic Mass, the Physical Therapy Club 5K Run/Walk, and the final School of Music Concert featuring the Women’s Chorale, Madrigal Singers, Chorus and Choir.

Please note that the original posting of this story incorrectly listed the time of President Rochon's address on Saturday morning as 8-9 am. It will actually take place Saturday morning from 9-10 am. The story as posted now has been corrected to reflect the correct time. My apologies for this oversight.
