Bruce Henderson, Professor of Communication Studies, will receive the Lilla A. Heston Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Interpretation and Performance Studies at this year’s annual meeting of the National Communication Association in New Orleans.  

The Lilla A. Heston award is NCA's highest award  for scholarship in performance studies. Henderson is being cited for bringing together disability studies with performance studies, as well as for his sustained body of work in performance studies.  The award is named in memory of Lilla A. Heston, late Professor and Chair of Performance Studies at Northwestern University.
