Join SAFER in an open discussion on gender stereotypes and what defines "rape culture" at a screening of "Welcome to the Party" on Tuesday, November 8th at 7pm in Textor 103. The event is free and open to the public.

"Welcome to the Party" is a rape awareness and prevention film directed and edited by IC Assistant Professor of Television and Radio Tom Nicholson. An open discussion will follow the screening.

Rape culture can be described as a society where rape is condoned through certain fundamental attitudes toward gender, sexuality, and violence. Many feminists and scholars argue that the United States is a rape culture, and that gender roles that set standards of how men and women should behave contribute to these attitudes.
