Jeff Claus, Associate Professor in the Education Department, presented a paper at the annual meetings of the American Educational Studies Association, Nov. 3-6, in St. Louis.  The title of the paper was, "'It’s Often a Subtle Thing' and 'I Wish Teachers Would Really Listen': An Interview Study with Parents/Caregivers of African American Youth about Their Families’ School-Related Experiences with Issues of Race and Racism."  It was also announced at the conference that a book in which Claus has a chapter, Adolescent Education: A Reader, received an AESA Critics’ Award this year.  Claus' chapter, about service learning programs for youth, is titled, “An Empowering, Transformative Approach to Service.”
