Janice Levy's photography and volunteer work featured in IPE articleContributed by Melissa Gattine on 11/14/11
One of her outreach projects was to help disabled children explore their world through photography in a partnership between PNU and DCI. The article, which includes six photographs, most of them taken by the disabled children, is available on line through the end of November at joinipe.org, the IPE website. IPE supports the study and practice of participant–produced documentary projects in photography, film, and digital media. The Institute is a resource for photographers, filmmakers, academics, researchers, and project participants from around the globe to share ideas, learn from one another, and develop the field. IPE is a unique community–university partnership in collaboration with the Annenberg School at the University of Southern California. As part of its mission, IPE provides new opportunities for the traditionally disenfranchised to use their own images to communicate directly with policymakers about the social issues that profoundly affect their lives, such as HIV/AIDS, poverty, and environmental degradation.
