Dean Gayeski, dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications, discussed job tips for recent graduates and job seekers in "Life Is A Job Interview: How Posting 'TGIF!' On Facebook Can Cost You." The article appeared on TheGrindStone.com

Scott Hamula, chair and associate professor in the Department of Strategic Communication, was recently featured in the article, “The Future of Marketing: 46 Experts Share Their Predictions For 2012.

Gayeski discussed how she is frequently “friended” by former students on Facebook and states: “What I too often see is comments like, ‘Oh, I can’t stand work today’ or ‘I can’t wait ‘til the weekend, this job sucks.” Dean Gayeski continued to explain: “What people don’t understand is that not only are employers following them, but people they want to use as references."

Hamula’s prediction for the future of marketing included: "Get ready for an increase in one-to-one marketing, mass customization, entrepreneurship, and personal branding. With more celebrities branding their own lines of products, awareness and interest is heightened. As communication and manufacturing technology continues to evolve, along with increasing interest to work for oneself resulting from tough economic conditions and generational interests, more opportunities will be available for the private individuals to create their own clothing, perfumes, accessories, food, etc., to use as well as to market to others. This will all be further facilitated as more individuals will use online, social, and mobile technology to transform themselves into living brands."
