Randi Zuckerberg, former Facebook marketer, to speak on Nov. 30Contributed by Melissa Gattine on 11/16/11 Internet entrepreneur Randi Zuckerberg, former director of market development and spokesperson for Facebook, will serve as this year's Park Distinguished Visitor on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Sponsored by the Roy H. Park School of Communications, her talk is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall. The older sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Randi led the company’s marketing efforts for six years. Among other initiatives, she was responsible for directing Facebook’s U.S. election and international politics strategy, launching the live streaming industry with her media partnerships around Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration. She was nominated for an Emmy Award for her work partnering with ABC News to webcast coverage of the 2010 midterm elections on both the network’s website and Facebook. Zuckerberg left Facebook in August of 2011 to start R to Z Media, a firm that will launch later this year to help companies take advantage of social media. She was recently appointed to the United Nations Global Entrepreneurs Council, the World Economic Forum’s Global Council on Social Media and the U.S. Broadcasting Board of Governors Commission on Innovation. A 2003 graduate of Harvard University with a degree in psychology, Zuckerberg served as a panelist on the business program “Forbes on Fox” prior to joining Facebook. She has appeared on the “Today” show, “Good Morning America,” CNN and Bloomberg News and was a correspondent for the 2011 Golden Globe Awards and the World Economic Forum in Davos.
