Seeking Applicants for Director of the Core CurriculumContributed by Marisa Kelly on 11/27/11 As you know, members of the Committee for College-Wide Requirements (CCR) and many other groups and individuals on campus are working hard on the continued development of a new Integrative Core Curriculum. It is important that an administrator of the program – the Director of the Core Curriculum – be identified in order to help foster the development of the plan and to coordinate the program once it is in place. In addition, the new director, who will report directly to me, will oversee the First Year Reading Initiative and work with Student Affairs on important orientation and related first year programming. The appointed individual will have four course releases, teach two courses in the Integrative Core Curriculum, and receive a summer stipend. The structure of the appointment and the associated responsibilities will be evolving as the program develops, with a full reevaluation of the position structure in 2013. This position is open only to tenured faculty members or senior (associate level or above) NTEN faculty. Interested individuals should send a letter of interest and an updated vita to me electronically at provost@ithaca.edu. Materials should be submitted no later than Wednesday, December 7th. The ideal applicant will possess an enthusiastic commitment to the new Integrative Core Curriculum and IC 20/20 more broadly, as well as have experience working with curriculum development and implementation. I will be consulting with the deans and representatives of various faculty committees before making a final appointment. |
